Mad Men Barbies!!!

Speaking of Barbies, while researching my Computer Engineer Barbie story, I came across an article on Barbie Media about the imminent release of Mad Men Barbies. After finding pictures of them online I pretty much forgot all about geeky barbie in favor of amazingly sexy retro Joan and Betty Barbies. I think I might be hyperventilating because of all the fabulousness. Tragically their are $80 each, but seriously folks, could anything be more perfect? I think Roger might even being wearing a super subtle glen plaid suit.

Barbie Gets Her Geek On

Have you heard about Computer Engineer Barbie? She's obviously serious business because not only does she have glasses, a watch and a laptop, she has a blue tooth headset. You can even test your own geekiness by trying to translate the code on her shirt (when you give up, I spoil the surprise at the end of this article)?

Wow.

I kind of want sparkle leggings now. Apparently my Mom, who was a programmer at IBM back in the day, wants the actual doll. I'm not going to lie, if I got Computer Engineering Barbie I'd probably sit her right by my computer, possibly even at work. She has the coolest Barbie accessories ever, I just wish that shirt wasn't so fugly, even if it does spell Barbie in binary.

Read more at WSJ, NYT, BarbieMedia, or Wired or buy her at Mattel.

McQueen on Gilt

Tragically, my internet is not yet hooked up at home, so I seldom have opportunity to blog or to shop online. As a result, I was most distressed this morning when I noticed that I had totally missed the opening of the Alexander McQueen sale on Gilt Group. I've signed up on the wait list for like a million things, including what could potentially be my "signature" purse...the purse for which I forsake all others. I feel very bittersweet about the above shoe, I adore it, it is sold out...but it was never available in my size anyway. Isn't it magnificent anyway? I don't care how high the heel, I would wear that shoe every freaking day if I owned it, even if it left me crippled with blisters.

Did any of you guys buy McQueen? If you are not on Gilt yet, you can use this invitation from me to check it out.
